How to Use Chevy Remote Start with Your Key Fob

If you are within 200 feet of your vehicle, you can use your Chevy key fob to start your engine:

  1. Press the lock button on your key fob to secure the vehicle.
  2. Immediately after pressing the lock, press and hold the remote start button for at least four seconds. (This button looks like a circular arrow.)
  3. If successful, your vehicle’s lights will flash and the engine will start to run.

If you don’t enter the vehicle within 15 minutes, your engine will turn off automatically to conserve fuel and limit waste.

How to Use Your Chevy App’s Remote Start Feature

Using the MyChevrolet App is just as easy, and in properly equipped models, it may even enable you to start the vehicle at distances greater than 200 feet. Here’s how to use the MyChevrolet app’s remote start feature:

  1. Download the MyChevrolet App and create your account by registering your vehicle, if you haven’t done so already.
  2. Open the app and press the Key Fob button.
  3. This will take you to the Remote Key Fob portal. The features listed here will vary depending on how your model is equipped, but common capabilities include locking/unlocking, remote start, and remote horn/light activation.
  4. Where available, press the Engine Start button and enter your PIN! (The button looks like a circular arrow.)
  5. Your lights will flash and your engine will spring to life—you’re now ready to get to work in Indianapolis!
